Teams working with people facing complex health and social problems are supposed to engage in reflective practice, and a lot is talked about it – but if we don’t do it in a rigorous and structured way, we will miss opportunities to get creative, use the full wisdom and resources of the team, and people facing the most barriers to help are likely to fall out of preventative support. Our teams are likely to burn out, or become reactive.
Teams who are accustomed to being reactive and solution focused may feel worried by the prospect of reflective practice and feel poorly engaged – so we need to do it right.
This training will teach an evidence based tool for reflective practice in complex systems, and give tools and advice for how to embed this successfully in your own team and organisation.

  • Setting the scene – common problems with reflective practice
  • A vision for reflective practice
  • An evidence based tool for reflective practice
  • Tips for embedding it in your teams

This training offers an optional 6 coaching follow up sessions to support you embedding this in your own team.

  • Children and family social workers
  • Adults’ social workers
  • Housing officers from local authorities and housing associations
  • Police, community protection, and ASB officers
  • Job Centres
  • Schools
  • NHS community and hospital staff
  • Mental health services
  • Drug and alcohol services
  • Domestic abuse services
  • Voluntary sector agencies
  • Homeless services
  • Customer services

Please note that the training is focused predominantly on work with 18+ although the approaches will also be relevant for work with younger people.

The purpose of group training is to deliver training to your workplace group on a date, and in a format, which suits you.
Training can be delivered either live online or in your workplace.
The cost of training will depend on the size of your group, the length of the training, whether you require any extras (eg an extended Q&A), and – if you require training in the workplace – your location.
